UDS - EUROPE'S FIRST 100% DIGITALLY DESIGNED, PLATFORM BASED UNIVERSITY

As a university, the UDS wants to occupy a prominent position in the education system and our society. The resulting task becomes evident in its three essential core competences:

  1. the acquisition of new knowledge through research
  2. the dissemination of knowledge through education
  3. the safeguarding of academic experience through publishing.

Our one hundred percent digital foundation succeeds in overcoming traditional challenges in modern higher education. It is only possible through our game-changing University-as-a-Service approach:

  • the dissolution of the classic separation of departments by a permeable, integrative communication concept across all university instances
  • the mediation of relevant, interdisciplinary competences in the project-oriented teaching and research cooperation concept between university and industry
  • the detachment of educational quality from the performance of individual lecturers and the integration of a community-oriented collaborative basic principle
 

Transformative research at the UDS understands itself as a process whose questions aim towards societal problems and whose concrete goal and transformation paths are worked out in order to solve these problems. It thus represents a paradigm shift that goes beyond the underlying assumptions of previous science, which, for example, focuses on disciplinary excellence and publications in scientific journals, and which aims to approach research questions transdisciplinary in principle.

Through our focus on internationality, interculturality, and diversity, we will make a constant contribution to sustainable transformation and also want to contribute to the discussion on the opportunities of digitization, aspects of the open-source movement, future patterns of prosperity and a culture on eye level. This discussion should serve as a basis for young scientists in particular to demand new networks and structural changes and to meet the demands of the future.

The researchers of the university, therefore, expect transdisciplinary suggestions, current case studies, and application possibilities as well as mutual added value in terms of content from the teaching cooperation with their students.

Research-based learning is an integrative design process firmly anchored in the UDS. This means meeting students at eye level and involving them in the definition of problems and research questions as well as in the actual production of knowledge on an equal footing.

The media world is undergoing a fundamental transformation in which companies and users are creating new digital business models. Process innovations and a solid understanding of market developments, potentials, and international comparative standards are crucial in this process of change. This book series aims to present new work in the field of the digital economy, focusing on the development and implementation of digital innovation processes and business models, including methodological research, case studies, and market analysis.
